The general director of the Valencian Agency for Evaluation and Prospective (AVAP), Javier Oliver, was present at the presentation event of the Microcred Plan at the University of Malaga (UMA). The Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, led the ceremony held at the Rectorate of the UMA, where this ambitious project aimed at boosting university microcredentials in Spain was unveiled. The plan has 50 million euros in funding from the European Union through the NextGenerationEU program, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The presentation of the plan was attended by leading personalities in the field of education, including Javier Oliver, representing AVAP. During the event, Minister Subirats highlighted the importance of the Microcreds Plan and its objective of addressing current challenges in the Spanish university sector.
University microcredentials refer to certifications derived from short training programs, with less than 15 ECTS credits, that focus on the acquisition of specific knowledge and skills. These modular certifications are flexible and adaptable to the needs of adults seeking to develop their professional competencies.
The Microcreds Plan aims to expand access to higher education, foster social inclusion and offer new employment opportunities linked to technological development. It also seeks to promote collaboration between universities, companies and social entities to ensure that microcredentials match the needs of the labor market.
Javier Oliver’s presence at the presentation of the plan reflects AVAP’s commitment to supporting innovative initiatives in the educational field and its interest in promoting lifelong learning and the acquisition of skills relevant to the world of work. AVAP plays a key role in the evaluation and forecasting of educational quality in the Valencian Community.
The Microcreds Plan, supported by the European Union and with solid funding, represents an important step towards the adaptation and modernization of the Spanish university system, promoting employability and lifelong learning.
