Docentia Programme
The Program to Support the Evaluation of University Faculty Teaching (DOCENTIA) is a program initially developed in 2007 by ANECA to assist higher education institutions in developing and implementing their own mechanisms for managing the quality of university faculty teaching and promoting faculty development. ANECA, AVAP, and the other Spanish agencies have collaborated on the design and updating of this program, culminating in the current version of the Guide (2025).
The DOCENTIA Program is based on the recommendations for quality assurance in higher education institutions developed by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) in its document “Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area”. Furthermore, the program’s design has taken into account the standards established by internationally recognized organizations in the field of personnel evaluation, such as The Personnel Evaluation Standards, developed by The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation.
AVAP and ANECA have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of the DOCENTIA Program in the Valencian Community, and currently, AVAP is responsible for the evaluation, monitoring, and certification of the teaching activity evaluation models developed by Valencian universities.
