On Monday 26 May, the AUDIT-AVAP External Evaluation Committee paid a visit to the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering (ETSINF) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), as part of the protocol for the certification of the ETSINF’s Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS).
The committee had a busy day, which lasted from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., holding meetings and interviews with all ETSINF stakeholders, including technical staff responsible for quality at the centre, teaching staff, students from all courses, including graduates, the quality committee, the management team, employers and the Vice-Rector for Planning, Studies, Quality and Accreditation.
The objective of the IQAS certification assessment is to verify that the system is implemented and developed in the centre where the IQAS is deployed and that it is suitable for quality assurance. Since 2025, AVAP has begun to certify the implementation of IQAS in institutions within its territorial area, in this case higher education institutions in the Valencian Community, which means that one of the requirements for institutional accreditation of university centres is now met.
Once IQAS certification has been obtained, institutional accreditation is granted if the institution has renewed the initial accreditation of at least half of the official Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees it offers, in accordance with the general procedure set out in Royal Decree 822/2021, of 28 September, establishing the organisation of official university education.
In this way, AVAP fulfils one of its main objectives, which is to evaluate and improve the quality assurance of Valencian universities by conducting audits of the quality management systems of the universities that make up the Valencian University System.
